HONOLULU-NAHA YOUTH CULTURAL EXCHANGE

In the 65th year of the Honolulu-Naha sister-city relationship, Visionary Plus is helping create a new generation of people-to-people exchange through sport, education and community engagement.

MORE THAN A TOURNAMENT
A Honolulu 13U select team has received a special invitation to participate in the JAL Okinawa Rookies Baseball Cup, becoming the first international team ever invited to compete in the established Japanese youth championship.
Competition provides the starting point. The broader program brings together student-athletes, families, schools and communities through school interaction, cultural experiences and opportunities to build genuine relationships across Hawaiʻi and Okinawa.
The objective is not a one-time international trip. It is to create a recurring youth exchange model that strengthens an established sister-city relationship and gives the next generation a meaningful role in carrying it forward.
A TIMELY U.S.-JAPAN CONNECTION
The 2026 exchange also takes place during the 250th anniversary year of the United States, creating a meaningful opportunity for young people in Japan and the United States to look toward the next generation of U.S.-Japan friendship.
A MODEL FOR FUTURE EXCHANGE
Honolulu-Naha is intended to be more than a single program. Visionary Plus is developing youth opportunities through other U.S.-Japan sister-city relationships, building a broader network through which sport, education and community engagement can connect young people, families and communities across both countries.
